Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Porter will perform a variety of building maintenance and cleaning tasks. The Porter will also assist the Superintendent with building repairs when needed. Responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent with building duties as needed
• Sweep and mop all floors daily
• Spray buff floors weekly
• Strip and wax floors at least twice a year
• Sweep and mop stairs weekly
• Thoroughly clean and restock bathrooms daily
• Clean the laundry room daily, more if needed
• Clean public spaces daily, more if needed
• Clean all glass surfaces daily, including lobby and management areas
• Keep storage, utility, and work rooms organized and clean
• Shovel snow, sand, salt, and scrape as weather demands
• Prepare trash and recycling for pickup, and keep building common areas debris-free
• Maintain cleanliness of the compactor and recycling rooms
• Remove graffiti within 24 hours during the week and by the first Monday if on weekend
• Maintain parking lot and grounds daily, including trash removal and sweeping weekly
• Maintain grass, apply fertilizer, weed killer, and seed as necessary
• Prune trees and shrubs as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Appearance and Physical Requirements

The Porter must present a professional appearance, wear uniforms during work hours, and perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, crawling, reaching, and driving, often continuously throughout the day.
