Job summary

Trident Seafoods seeks a Port Engineer to manage maintenance and repairs of fishing vessels across the Bering Sea, Washington, and Oregon. You will handle budgets, reporting, logistics, and crew communications while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Travel to Alaska and local shipyards is required, with a 40-hour week plus on-call readiness during peak seasons. Strong knowledge of vessel propulsion and related systems is essential.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years ship repair or marine engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
  • Ship Repair experience with Classification Society rules (DNV or ABS) preferred.
  • 24 Hour Hazwoper Certificate preferred or ability to complete within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with multiple departments to ensure engineering operations are safe and compliant.
  • Daily communication with ship’s engineering crew and shore side operations.
  • Oversees day-to-day technical operation of vessels and budgets for repair projects.
  • Schedules repairs with contractors/shipyards and monitors quality and costs.
  • Prepares work scopes, bids, and procurement for vessel work.
  • Maintains records of engineering costs per vessel and liaises with regulatory bodies.
