Job summary

Trident Seafoods Corporation is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all daily engineering, repairs and maintenance for Alaska shore facilities. Working under on-site management and the Director of Facility Engineering, you will ensure plants operate safely and efficiently according to established procedures.

You will direct the engineering department, manage capital projects, and coordinate with finance and production to determine feasibility and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years related experience in maritime or food manufacturing industries.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration required.
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to manage teams of employees.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the functionality and safety of the facility, including the physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical/heating/cooling/life/safety systems.
• Leads capital projects with scheduling, budgeting and compliance with codes and regulations.
• Confers with management, finance and production staff on engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness.
• Oversees performance standards for shoreside utilities and resolves problems with appropriate solutions.
• Directs documentation for energy management, preventative maintenance and process safety programs.
• Manages personnel needs for short- and long-term projects.
• Oversees design and implementation of training for shoreplant engineering staff.
• Assesses capital project requests and prepares capital expenditure requests.
• Develops condition reports and estimates for new plants including utilities and docks.
• Monitors team performance to meet KPIs and collaborates with HR on personnel actions.
• Ensures compliance with legal regulations and company policies.
