Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of general, technical and specialized maintenance tasks on City pools and splash pads. You will clean and operate water treatment systems, balance chemical levels, and repair pool equipment to meet safety codes.

Responsibilities include on-call readiness, supervising seasonal staff, and coordinating with outside vendors. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or technical diploma in mechanical/technical/construction related field.
• Certifications must be obtained within six months of employment (CPR/AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens).
• Certificate of Pool Operation (CPO or AFO or equivalent) within six months.
• Hazard Communication Act certificate within six months; comply with chemical safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs general, technical and specialized maintenance on City pools and splash pads.
• Clean, vacuum, brush, skim pools; operate and maintain filtration and chemical systems.
• Service erosion feeders, test and balance water chemistry per state codes; adjust chemicals.
• Backwash filters; diagnose and repair pool motors, pumps, seals, valves and gaskets.
• Perform maintenance on splash pad equipment; support electrical, mechanical tasks.
• Conduct walk-through inspections and take corrective action; coordinate with vendors.
• Mow and trim grass in pool enclosures; train seasonal hires when needed.
• Respond to on-call and emergency situations; meet licensing and safety requirements.
