Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions and promote member safety and engagement in the pool and surrounding areas.

You will enforce rules, perform pool maintenance, conduct chemical testing, and participate in trainings to ensure high standards of safety, with emphasis on rapid emergency response and teamwork within a supportive YMCA culture.

Qualifications

• Must hold current YMCA Lifeguard Certification or ARC Lifeguard Certification, or obtain YMCA Lifeguard Certification within 30 days.
• Must obtain ASHI certifications for CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen within 30 days.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Maintain pool safety and enforce rules to ensure a safe environment.
• Perform pool maintenance and cleaning: vacuuming, deck cleaning, tiles, trash pickup.
• Conduct pool chemical testing and keep accurate records.
• Perform daily equipment checks and ensure equipment availability.
