Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions across pools and decks, enforce rules, and promote member safety, youth development and healthy living in line with YMCA policies.

You will perform pool maintenance, conduct chemical testing, monitor hazards, and respond to emergencies with professional rescues. This role requires current lifeguard certification and the ability to work flexible hours and attend trainings.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Must obtain YMCA Lifeguard Certification within 30 days of hire if not held.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
• Ability to perform in physically demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe pool conditions and enforce rules.
• Perform pool maintenance and cleaning.
• Test and record pool chemicals as required.
• Respond to emergencies and conduct rescues.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
• Monitor hazards and report concerns promptly.
