Lifeguard (Security)

Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe pool environment for all members and guests, responding promptly and appropriately to emergencies.
- Model and promote the NYSC mission, values, and guiding principles with pride and integrity.
- Provide a legendary member experience.
- Review and adhere to all policies, procedures, employee handbook, codes of conduct, and relevant documents.
- Enforce pool policies and standards of safe conduct.
- Manage pool division, lane sharing, and lap policies meticulously.
- Interact positively with members and guests.
- Collaborate with team members and club leaders to adhere to schedules and tasks.
- Inspect the pool area for hazards and eliminate risks, keeping the area clutter-free.
- Test and record chemical readings every two hours (hourly in Maryland and DC clubs), report abnormal readings, and partner with management to rectify issues.
- Recognize emergencies, respond effectively, and complete incident reports as needed.
- Remain fully present and focused during shifts, avoiding personal device use.
- Attend in-service trainings to maintain lifeguard skills and emergency preparedness.
- Clean the pool area when not supervising, including vacuuming and cleaning deck, windows, waterline, and equipment.
- Ensure all necessary equipment, including first aid supplies, is available, notifying management if supplies are low.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Lifeguarding certification.
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
- Prior lifeguard experience preferred.
- Knowledge of chemical testing procedures and protocols.
- Proficiency with POS and membership systems, and other required computer programs.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to de-escalate emotional situations.
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds, walk through all areas, climb stairs, and perform bending and lifting tasks.
