Job summary

IU Health Sleep Medicine is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician to perform sleep studies under supervision and prepare patient equipment for testing. You will interview patients, determine sleep disorder issues, and explain pre/post testing procedures.

You will monitor patients, score studies, and generate reports while maintaining and calibrating lab equipment. Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED with an accredited polysomnography program and certification or AS degree.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Accredited polysomnography program leading to certification or AS degree.
  • Completion of STAR/ASTEP Polysomnographic Program and credentialing plan.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies under supervision.
  • Prepares patient equipment for testing.
  • Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and explain procedures.
  • Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve needs or equipment issues.
  • Assists with scoring sleep studies and generating reports.
  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing.

Education

Associate's degree preferred
High School Diploma or GED required
Accredited polysomnography program leading to certification or AS degree
RPSGT credential within 4 years of hire
