Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Sleep Technologist to score and interpret sleep studies for pediatric and adult patients at the Indianapolis Sleep Disorder Center. The role requires reviewing data, generating preliminary reports for physicians, and ensuring timely, accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Generate preliminary reports for physician review and interpretation; address data issues.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards with established turnaround times.
  • Collaborate with sleep physicians, APPs, and staff to support patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance and stay current on sleep medicine standards.
  • May assist with onboarding, education, and mentoring of staff.

About This Position
  • PRN Day Technologist Work hours daytime as needed
  • Night Shift and Weekend Pay Differential included
  • Remote scoring opportunity with flexible scheduling based on department needs
  • Responsible for scoring and reviewing sleep studies for pediatric and/or adult patients.
  • Some direct patient care will be required as needed during daytime hours
  • Indianapolis Sleep Disorder Center

This position performs scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic recordings in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines and department protocols. They review and analyze sleep study data to identify sleep-related events and ensure accurate documentation. They generate preliminary reports for physician review and interpretation and identify technical issues, artifacts, or data discrepancies requiring follow-up. The role maintains productivity and quality standards while meeting established turnaround times and collaborates with sleep physicians, advanced practice providers, and sleep laboratory staff to support timely patient care. They participate in quality assurance activities, maintain current knowledge of sleep medicine standards and scoring criteria, and may assist with onboarding, education, and mentoring of staff as needed.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Requires 1-3 years of experience working with pediatric sleep studies.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC or Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Must obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or certification as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) within 2 years of date of hire.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
