Job Summary

Provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the promotion of good sleep.

Essential Functions

1. Performs diagnostic sleep testing, including order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, CPAP initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and related duties.
2. Analyzes data collected during sleep testing, including staging and calculation of indices.
3. Documents findings and patient responses according to guidelines.
4. Maintains equipment for proper function.
5. Evaluates educational needs of patients and significant others, developing and implementing teaching strategies or making referrals.
6. Mentors polysomnographic technicians and validates scoring performance.
7. Participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigation, completing required competencies.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Polysomnographic Technologist certification from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists upon hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days

Preferred

• Respiratory Therapist license in Michigan
• Respiratory Therapist Registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire
