Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Sleep Technologist for the Bloomington Hospital sleep lab on the night shift. You will prepare patient equipment, interview patients, perform sleep testing, monitor patients, score studies, and generate reports, with potential supervision of other staff.

The requirements include a High School Diploma/GED, an Associate's degree preferred, 1–3 years of pediatric sleep study experience, and RPSGT or SDS certification within 2 years of hire.

About This Position:
  • Full Time, Night Shift, 3-12’s-Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights
  • Sign on Bonus of $15,000 available to Eligible Candidates
  • Night Shift Pay Differential included
  • Location: Bloomington Hospital

This position performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies and may provide supervision of other staff. They prepare patient equipment for testing, interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain pre and post testing procedures. They perform and document testing per lab protocols. They will monitor patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. They will assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports. The role prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. They determine and report needed repairs/replacements. They will maintain credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT). Certifications obtained through the American Board of Sleep Medicine will be honored through their certification date or until credentials through the BPRT are obtained.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Requires 1-3 years of experience working with pediatric sleep studies.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC or Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Must obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or certification as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) within 2 years of date of hire.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
