Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician to join our Sleep Center team in MA. You will gather patient data, explain procedures, apply electrodes, and monitor studies to ensure accurate diagnostic sleep studies for physician review.

The role requires completing a recognized polysomnography program and BRPT eligibility, with potential for advancement. RT/RS credentials and CAAHEP/CoARC pathway experience are valued as education, with emphasis on patient safety and quality

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a nationally recognized accredited polysomnographer program of no less than one year duration.
• Experience consistent with ASTEP prerequisites to sit BRPT exam.
• Enrollment in or completion of CAAHEP or CoARC polysomnography program.
• AS in Respiratory Care or EEG training as education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information by reviewing physician orders.
• Greets patient and assists with completing questionnaire.
• Explains pretesting, testing and post-testing procedures to patients.
• Prepares room and equipment and verifies proper function.
• Applies electrodes and sensors per AASM guidelines.
• Performs physiological collaboration and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Performs CPAP mask fitting.
• Monitors sleep study and PSG channels.
• Documents routine observations including sleep stages and events.
• Initiates CPAP/BiPAP or oxygen therapy as needed.
• Transfers sleep studies to server and processes billing.
