Job summary

Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital St Joseph is seeking a Sleep Technologist trainee to support physicians and patients in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders and promoting good sleep. Under the mentorship of a registered technologist, you will perform diagnostic sleep testing, interpret orders, assist with CPAP initiation and titration, and monitor patients during overnight shifts.

This role requires a High School diploma, completion of an accredited sleep technology program within 1 year,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• A-STEP/AASM sleep technologist program completed within 1 year.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under mentorship, perform diagnostic sleep testing and monitor patients overnight.
• Document findings and patient responses per guidelines.
• Report equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Full time, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., variable days and weekends

Job Summary

In a trainee role, provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the promotion of good sleep.

Essential Functions

• Under the mentorship of a registered technologist, performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties.
• Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines.
• Reports equipment problems to the appropriate person.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP), AASM, American Academy of Sleep Medicine within 1 year
• Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.
