Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. in Monroeville, PA is seeking a Polymer Film Research Expert to advance polymer science for coatings, films, laminates and devices. You will work in the Photochromics Group within the Monroeville Business and Technology Center.

You will develop new products, elucidate structure-property relationships, screen materials, and communicate results. Travel up to 10% and collaboration with internal and external partners are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in polymer chemistry, materials science, or related field with 0+ years experience or equivalent post-doctoral work.
• Ability to collaborate within multi-functional teams.
• Creative, hands-on scientist with strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products through polymer materials design, adhesives preparation, application and testing.
• Elucidate structure-property relationships.
• Source and screen new film and resin materials.
• Characterize optical and adhesive properties.
• Maintain a safe working environment and promote lab safety.
• Apply experimental design and data analysis to accelerate development.
• Collaborate with team members and external partners.
• Meet project milestones promptly.
• Communicate results via presentations and written reports.
• Pursue IP protection for new technologies.
• Travel up to 10%.
