Job summary

PPG's Photochromics Group in Monroeville, PA seeks a Polymer Film Research Expert to advance research at the intersection of polymer science, films, and device technology. You will develop adhesive formulations, optical coatings, films and laminates, contributing to new product development and intellectual property opportunities.

Qualifications

• PhD in polymer chemistry, materials science or related field with 0+ years experience.
• Effective collaborator within multi-functional teams.
• Creative hands-on scientist with strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge of polymer science, film, film laminate, adhesion chemistry and devices is desirable.
• Familiarity with organic chromophores, optics and conductive materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products through polymeric materials design, adhesives preparation, application and testing.
• Elucidate structure-property relationships.
• Source and screen new film and resin materials.
• Characterize optical and adhesive properties.
• Maintain a safe working environment and advocate lab safety.
• Apply efficient experimental design and data analysis to accelerate development.
• Collaborate with team members and external partners.
• Achieve project milestones promptly and communicate results clearly.
• Pursue IP protection for new technologies.
• Up to 10% travel.
