Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. seeks a Product Development Operation Lead to guide technicians and staff in a Monroeville R&D setting, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable dye development and scale-up.

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, partners, and stakeholders to meet development goals while upholding safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. You’ll lead lab and pilot-scale activities, manage resources, drive improvements, and report to the Senior Research Manager, positioning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 2–4 years in chemical manufacturing, process development, pilot plant operations, or related industries.
• Previous supervisory/operations management experience preferred.
• Experience managing laboratory or pilot-scale operations and strong process safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and performance management for technicians and staff.
• Champion safety culture and ensure compliance with EH&S, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead safe and efficient execution of lab, pilot-scale, and process development activities.
• Coordinate personnel, equipment, materials, and resources to meet project priorities.
• Support process scale-up, tech transfer, troubleshooting, and commercialization with technical teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure equipment maintenance planning, SOP implementation, and resource management.
• Communicate priorities, project status, risks, and improvements to stakeholders.
