Job summary

Nava seeks a Policy Strategist to translate Medicaid policy into actionable decisions within an integrated eligibility platform. You will collaborate across product, design, and engineering to implement compliant, user-centered policy in systems.

You will research federal and state requirements, develop research plans, and synthesize analyses into concrete recommendations, supporting decision-making with clear policy briefs. This is a remote-friendly opportunity with government-facing impact.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of policy analysis experience or equivalent graduate-level background.
• Experience researching and interpreting policy using statutes, regs, or agency guidance and applying to programs.
• Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in technical and policy contexts.
• Experience with Medicaid eligibility and enrollment policy (applications, notices, renewals, etc.).
• Experience with agile delivery and human-centered design processes.
• Graduate degree in public policy, public administration, or related field.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship required.
• May be subject to government background check or security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting policy and using findings to improve program processes, operations, or technology.
• Identify policy questions, propose an approach, and make progress when work is not fully defined.
• Policy Translation & Implementation
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate policy into system behavior, workflows, and user experiences
• Identify regulatory constraints, risks, and ambiguities and propose solutions balancing compliance, UX, and delivery needs
• Create policy briefs and decision frameworks to support prioritization
• Support testing and validation of policy implementation (scenario and edge case testing)
• Conduct landscape and cross-jurisdictional research to monitor evolving policies
• Build relationships with external partners to exchange implementation lessons
