Job summary

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) in Maryland seeks a Legislative Affairs Specialist to support the Office of Government and Legislative Affairs (OGLA). You will coordinate legislative activities, track bills, prepare testimony, and manage office operations during the General Assembly session.

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Five years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Substitution options: up to 30 college credit hours per year of experience, Bachelor's degree plus 1 year experience, Master's degree for experience, or military service as described.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Legislative Activities: liaison between OGLA and other offices; track regulatory actions; update Director and Governor's Office review.
  • Manage OGLA constituent casework and deadlines; monitor outstanding cases and respond timely.
  • Schedule meetings with internal/external stakeholders; coordinate with Secretary's office.
  • Maintain the OGLA bill tracker and add relevant legislation.
  • Track testimony deadlines; coordinate employee participation in bill hearings; manage submission process.
