The American Heart Association is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst, Tobacco, Systems of Care, to advance policy research and advocacy across state and federal levels from Washington, DC (home-based work allowed). You will translate science into policy, develop briefs, and manage communications to build support for cardiovascular health initiatives.

Qualifications include 5 years of policy experience, strong writing/speaking skills, and the ability to build external partnerships.

Formación

• Bachelor's or similar degree in Health Science, Public Policy (Healthcare), Healthcare Administration, Political Science, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years translating science and medical research into policy.
• Proficient knowledge of health policy, public health, care delivery systems and tobacco prevention/cessation.
• Effective writing and speaking skills.
• Ability to build external relationships with government agencies, coalitions, or partners.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to meet deadlines amid competing projects.
• Ability to manage people and prioritize work streams.
• Willingness to travel overnight approx. 10% of the time.

Responsabilidades

• Translates science into policy for assigned strategic issues and policy development for state/federal advocacy.
• Leads or participates in authoring policy papers, briefs, statements, and regulatory comments.
• Reviews and analyzes research for policy relevance and support.
• Supports policy implementation and outcome evaluation research.
• Represents the organization at conferences and meetings; may speak on topics.
• Leads interdepartmental groups on tobacco, systems of care, and related areas.
• Provides policy content to support Advocacy Coordinating Committee meetings.
