Job summary

American Heart Association is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst focused on Tobacco and Systems of Care to drive policy development for advocacy at state and federal levels. You will translate scientific findings into policy content, write briefs and statements, and engage with government agencies and coalitions to advance cardiovascular health goals.

The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, rigorous policy analysis, and public communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or similar degree in Health Science, Public Policy (Healthcare), Healthcare Administration, Political Science, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of three years translating science and medical research into public policy.
• Proficient knowledge of health policy issues including public health, health care delivery systems, and tobacco prevention and cessation.
• Effective writing and speaking skills.
• Ability to develop external relationships with government agencies, coalitions, or partners for advocacy work.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Translates science into policy for assigned issues and supports state/federal advocacy.
• Develops policy statements, regulatory comments, model legislation, and briefs.
• Reviews and analyzes research for policy relevance and support.
• Conducts policy implementation and outcome evaluation research.
• Interacts with government agencies and manages external relationships with coalitions and partners.
• Represents AHA at conferences and meetings; may speak on behalf of the association.
