Job summary

The City of New York seeks a Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics Unit within the Policy & Community Affairs Division. You will manage data pipelines, enhance governance, and bridge modern cloud solutions with legacy systems for projects including traffic congestion, fare regulation, and driver pay.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• For higher levels: doctorate or master's with 3 years of research experience.
• Probationary period of one year applies to appointments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statistical analysis and produce maintainable and reproducible code to inform policy.
• Manage complex data projects through iterative project cycles and methodology research.
• Respond promptly to ad hoc requests and deliver accurate analyses.
• Collaborate with team members and present projects to senior staff and stakeholders.
• Mentor other team members and work with leadership to produce quality data analysis.
• Monitor data quality and maintain data dictionaries; document projects and data stores.
