Job summary

The NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission seeks a Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics Unit within the Policy & Community Affairs Division. You will manage data pipelines, enhance governance, and bridge cloud-based solutions with legacy systems, supporting projects on traffic congestion, fare regulation, driver pay, vehicle electrification, and charging infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental science or public health for Assignment Level I.
• Doctorate or master's with 3+ years of research/supervisory experience for Assignment Level II and above.
• US work authorization; no visa sponsorship available.
• Facility allows 2 days per week remote work as part of the position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statistical analyses and produce maintainable, reproducible code to inform policy.
• Manage complex data projects through iterative cycles, with sound methodology and policy research.
• Respond promptly to ad hoc requests and deliver accurate analyses.
• Collaborate with team members and present projects to senior staff and external stakeholders.
• Mentor other team members and coordinate with agency leadership across technical/non-technical teams.
• Maintain documentation of projects and data dictionaries and suggest improvements to databases.
