Job summary

The City of New York seeks a Program Data Scientist to design analytics for the Division of Traffic Operations’ signal capital program, turning project and asset data into actionable insight across design, contracts, and delivery.

Fluent in Python and GIS, candidates will build data pipelines, apply spatial analysis, and present findings to leadership to keep signal installations on track and support transit priority corridors.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Python for data analysis, pipeline building, and automation.
• Experience with GIS tools and spatial analysis.
• Experience designing analyses or data systems for tracking capital projects or complex programs.
• Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to non-technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analytical systems that track a large portfolio of signal projects across stages and contracts.
• Build and maintain data pipelines ingesting project, contract, and asset data.
• Apply GIS methods to analyze and map the program’s infrastructure.
• Develop metrics and analyses to reveal project delivery trends, bottlenecks and risks.
• Evaluate data quality across the program and coordinate improvements across units.
• Present findings and recommendations to division leadership.
