Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an experienced Policy Attorney to provide complex legal support in policy development, rulemaking, and legislative implementation. You will analyze state and federal requirements, draft rules, review contracts, and advise leadership on strategic policy issues.

The role reports to the associate director for Medicaid and CHIP services, offering opportunities to collaborate across departments.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule per agency policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Advises HHSC system clients and OCC leadership on legal matters and policy interpretation with respect to agency regulations.
• Supports development of strategies to implement legislative, programmatic, and policy initiatives.
• May draft bills and amendments for legislative consideration.
