Job summary

TikTok is seeking a Policy Manager, Search Policy within its Trust & Safety team. You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, user researchers, operations, legal and stakeholders to craft policies and safety strategies for TikTok Search and related features.

This role shapes safety and editorial policies, conducts risk assessment, develops policies, and ensures transparency for new Search features.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in product policy, trust and safety, or content moderation strategy at a tech company.
• Ability to translate policy concepts into product requirements and roadmaps.
• Experience drafting/enforcing policies for LLMs, RAG, or multimodal search.
• Proven ability to navigate complex trade-offs between free expression, safety, and product quality.
• Leadership of cross-functional technical initiatives without formal authority.
• Strong written and spoken policy communication for executives.
• Ability to analyze enforcement data and policy impact metrics.

Responsibilities

• Identify and anticipate risks to support new Launches of Search policies, products and features.
• Conduct pre-launch impact assessments to identify and mitigate potential harms.
• Author and maintain policies for search indexing, ranking, and AI features.
• Collaborate with PMs and ML engineers to code policy rules into ranking algorithms.
• Address policy gaps driven by Generative AI and evolving user behavior.
• Design benchmarks to measure policy enforcement accuracy and bias.
• Act as final policy authority for high-stakes, real-time escalations during crises.
