Job summary

City of Hutchinson, Kansas is seeking a Records Technician to support the Hutchinson Police Department and Reno County Sheriff's Office by handling criminal and noncriminal records with discretion and accuracy. You will input and maintain records, process public record requests under the Kansas Open Records Act, and provide frontline customer service while using secure databases.

Experience with MS Windows, MS Office or similar applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

Inputs, maintains, and updates computer-based criminal/noncriminal records for the Hutchinson Police Department and Reno County Sheriff's Office using confidential databases.
Maintains records to meet government guidelines and assists in retention and submission of records to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Kansas Department of Transportation.
Fulfills record requests from the public, attorneys, and law enforcement within the Kansas Open Records Act; conducts background checks as needed.
Provides frontline customer service to the public, explaining policies related to dissemination of police records and directing calls to appropriate departments.
