Job summary

The Vallejo Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals to join as Police Officer (Recruit), a trainee-level, non-safety assignment. Recruits will undergo POST Basic Police Academy and are temporary at-will employees serving at the pleasure of the hiring authority.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undergo POST Basic Police Academy enrollment or current enrollment in academy.
• Ability to meet POST standards including background and medical screening.
• Commitment to 21st Century Policing principles and community collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Ride with officers to observe peace officer responsibilities and techniques.
• Operate department information systems and document information as directed.
• Assist in processing and securing property and evidence, and support court/document duties.
• Perform errands for the department including transporting information and paperwork to court and district attorney offices.
