Overview

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus and investigate complaints and violations of State laws and local ordinances.
• Develop and implement preventative patrol techniques and perform specialized duties to deter crime and promote safety and security.
• General duties for Police Officer levels I, II, and III as outlined in department orders.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education and Experience: Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or GED, probationary certification from the NC CJETSC as a commissioned police officer, and demonstrate successful completion of the appointing agency’s field training program for newly appointed Campus Police Officers.
• Other Required Qualifications: Meet minimum State standards for employment; complete department orientation and field training during probation; possess good oral and written communication skills; must be a mandatory employee as defined in University Regulation 04-20-07.
• Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree or higher; experience in higher education public safety or campus police; CALEA or IACLEA accreditation experience; 80 percent score on annual firearms qualification preferred; veterans notice for reduced BLET enrollment where applicable.
• Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license; professional certifications issued through NC CJETSC.
