Job Title: Police Officer

The Gahanna Division of Police is seeking diverse, motivated, and qualified individuals for the position of Police Officer. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on May 31, 2025. National Testing Network test scores from tests taken between December 1, 2024, and June 7, 2025, will be accepted. NTN offers online testing options. Applicants must apply with the City of Gahanna by the deadline for their NTN scores to be considered.

Position Overview

The Police Officer position reports to the Field Services Lieutenant and a Sergeant. Responsibilities include maintaining a visible, professional police presence through patrols, responding to calls related to crimes or emergencies, and taking necessary actions to prevent crime and apprehend suspects. Officers will also conduct investigations, prepare reports, make arrests, process prisoners, share intelligence, and coordinate resources, all while ensuring community safety in accordance with the U.S. Constitution, Ohio Revised Code, and Gahanna Codified Ordinances.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum age of 21 and not exceeding 40 at the time of appointment (per Gahanna Code 139.04)
• U.S. citizenship
• Residence must allow reporting to the station within 60 minutes in case of emergencies, with this requirement met within six months of appointment for new officers
• Corrected visual acuity of 20/30 in both eyes

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
• Ohio Police Officer Training Academy certificate or the ability to attend and complete a police academy
