Job Opportunity: Police Officer - Gahanna Division of Police

The Gahanna Division of Police is seeking diverse, motivated, and qualified individuals for the position of Police Officer. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on May 31, 2025. National Testing Network test scores will be accepted from tests taken between December 1, 2024, and June 7, 2025. NTN offers online testing options. Position Responsibilities

The Police Officer reports to the Field Services Lieutenant and Sergeant. Responsibilities include maintaining a visible, professional police presence, conducting patrols, responding to calls, preventing crime, apprehending suspects, and assisting citizens in emergencies and non-emergencies. Officers enforce laws and ordinances, initiate reports, make arrests, process prisoners, conduct investigations, share intelligence, and coordinate resources. They also identify community issues and work to address them.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Minimum age of 21 and not exceeding 40 at the time of appointment (Gahanna Code 139.04)
3. U.S. citizenship
4. Residence within a specified distance to enable quick response in emergencies; must meet this requirement within six months of appointment
5. Corrected visual acuity of 20/30 in both eyes

Licenses and Certifications

1. Valid Ohio Driver's License with acceptable driving record
2. Ohio Police Officer Training Academy certification or ability to attend and complete a police academy
