Job summary

Austin Police Department seeks a Police Dispatcher I for the CTCEC in Austin. The full-time role involves handling 911-referred information, coordinating with field units, and operating the CAD/MDT and Emergency Radio System to ensure timely, accurate communications.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain TCOLE Telecommunicator Certification within 1 year of employment and TCIC/NCIC within 6 months.
  • Must be able to pass the State mandated exam to obtain Telecommunicator License within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Receive coded information from 911 for police investigation and relay to field units.
  • Operate the Police Emergency Radio System per FCC rules.
  • Maintain awareness of mobile unit statuses and update as needed.
  • Transmit messages via radio/telephone using CAD/MDT.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and concise.
