Job summary

The City of Campbell is seeking a Communications Supervisor to manage the Communications Bureau within the Police Department. Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating schedules, managing equipment, and enforcing policies for the communications center.

Minimal education is a high school diploma with desirable college coursework in business or public administration. Four years of dispatch experience plus supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible public safety communications dispatch experience, plus at least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Equivalent to graduation from high school; college level coursework in Business/Public Administration desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, schedules, coordinates and evaluates Communications Bureau employees.
• Maintains inventory and arranges maintenance of communications equipment.
• Develops, implements and enforces communications center policies, procedures and regulations.
• Assists in development and maintenance of City wide telecommunications systems and departmental computer systems.
• Prepares annual budget and monitors expenditures; authorizes bills for payment.
• Fills in as a Communications Dispatcher as required.
• May be required to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, and be on call.
