Job summary

The California Poison Control System (CPCS) at UCSF Health is a 24/7 hotline answering service managed by UCSF School of Pharmacy. The role involves clinical toxicology, emergency advice, and scholarly activity, with a heavy schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays on the Fresno division campus in Madera, CA.

Ideal candidates hold a Pharm.D. and California license, with 2+ years clinical or CPCS experience and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

Pharm.D. degree required.
Licensed in California in good standing by start date, with 2 years of clinically oriented pharmacy practice or 2 years in Poison Control Center.
Strong knowledge of pharmacology, toxicology, physical chemistry and pathophysiology.
Experience with computerized databases, texts, and files.
Excellent written and verbal English communication.
Commitment to approved policies, protocols, and mission statements.
Ability to work about 80 hours every 2 weeks, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Provide initial management advice and follow-up for emergency and informational calls to the CPCS Hotline.
Document all calls and consultations in the standard PCC medical record.
Participate in CPCS teaching programs and scholarly activities.
Engage in quality improvement, rounds, and case conferences for hospitalized patients.
Assist in development of toxicology management protocols and related duties.
