Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within 1 year in select areas.
• Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment.
• Demonstrates professional practice advancement through governance, safety coach, super-user, vaccine coordinator, SPICE or OSHA/IP certificate holder for unit.
• Achieves 6 points from the list of additional market responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and policies while providing patient care.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks including vital signs, history, screenings, and health maintenance.
• Assists providers with procedures and may perform them as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following the rights of administration.
• Handles duties such as refills, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
• Maintains equipment and prepares work areas; supports onboarding of teammates.
• Demonstrates effective communication and escalation when needed.
• Learns and adheres to department age-specific care standards.
