Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• PEARS may be required within 1 year in select areas.
• Successful completion of Atrium Healths competency assessment.
• Demonstrates professional governance, safety coach, vaccine coordinator, SPICE or OSHA/IP certificate holder for unit.
• Achieves 6 points from the list of additional market responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and policies.
• Performs rooming and visit tasks: vital signs, history, screenings, and health maintenance.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture and POCT.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication administration rights.
• Handles referrals, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and patient messaging.
• Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment readiness.
• May assist with training teammates and serve on committees.
• Communicates effectively and escalates as needed.
• Provides age-appropriate care and supports growth and development across patient lifespans.
