Job summary

Atlantic Health System seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to oversee the Point of Care Testing program across multiple clinical departments and offsite practices in Summit, NJ. Under supervision, ensure regulatory compliance, quality, and patient safety in testing outside traditional labs.

The role involves specimen processing, testing, result reporting, instrument maintenance, QC, proficiency testing, inventory control, and training. Strong computer skills with HIS/LIS are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with point-of-care testing programs across clinical departments.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards for POCT and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing and Accessioning: evaluate specimens and test orders and accept/reject per guidelines.
• Specimen Testing: perform tests following SOPs.
• Result Reporting: correlate results with diagnoses as applicable.
• Computer Skills: proficient in HIS and LIS systems for job functions.
• Equipment Operation: validate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
• Quality Control: follow QC policies; document calibrations and maintenance.
• Proficiency Testing: participate and ensure samples are treated as patient samples.
• Inventory Management: rotate stock and check expiry dates.
• Training: assist with training of team members and students.
• Safety: follow Atlantic Health safety procedures.
