Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 18 months experience in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
  • Experience working with surgeons and coordinating care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, patients, and stakeholders.
  • Manage complex provider schedules including OR, ASC, and clinic calendars.
  • Ensure prior authorizations, certifications, and referrals are in place before procedures.
  • Coordinate preoperative studies and clearances for upcoming surgeries.
  • Communicate effectively with patients via multiple channels (in person, phone, MyChart, interpreter).
  • Maintain surgery schedules daily, weekly, and monthly and adapt to changes.

It is a complex process of coordinating patients' personal schedules and needs, surgeons' schedules, access to hospital facilities and insurance authorizations. Must have strong communication skills to coordinate with clinic, surgeon, OR, ASC and outside personnel to ensure case accuracy from creation to completion. Type of Opportunity: Full time Job Exempt: No Job is based: Presbyterian Rust Medical Center Work Shift: Days (United States of America)Responsibilities:* Develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, patients, and internal/external stakeholders. * Manage complex provider schedules including OR schedules, ASC schedules and clinic schedules. * Accuracy in scheduling is paramount in performance * Ability to schedule complex surgical procedures (et. al. total joint replacement, complex cardio-thoracic procedures, robotic cases, minimally invasive, gynecologic oncology and breast oncology, etc.) * Ensure prior authorizations/certifications/referrals are in place PRIOR to procedure * Responsible for collaborating all preoperative studies such as labs, diagnostic studies, physician consults, and clearances for upcoming surgeries and procedures. * Based on surgeon instruction, determine personnel/equipment required and coordinate with OR / ASC staff. * Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization. * The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery. * Coordinate post-operative follow-up needs within the office.
