Job summary

PPG Rail Application Specialist will provide product application assistance at customer sites, lead painter training, and assist with product complaint investigations in North America. Job description

PPG Protective & Marine Coatings (PMC)

Zone/Segment: Rail – North America (South Texas)

As a PPG Rail Application Specialist, you will provide product application assistance, painter training, and assist with product complaint investigations, as necessary, for our rail customers/clients. Providing written reports is required.

The PPG Rail Application Specialist will work independently and with the rail team to complete projects. You will represent the rail segment and report to the Rail Regional Sales Manager.

Frequent travel will be required to cover projects in North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product application assistance at customer sites
  • Painter training; hands‑on application techniques, repair methods, best practices, etc.
  • Assist with product complaints using defined test protocols and report results
  • Complete written reports of rail coating applications and rail coating investigations
  • New Product Application testing - complete hands‑on application testing
  • Ensure that accurate safety attitudes, procedures, site rules are observed on all work programs and conduct work in a manner that protects self, co‑workers, the environment, and the safety of the community
  • Operate and maintain field coating inspection test equipment following established specifications
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years practical railcar interior and/or exterior coating application experience
  • Prior experience with railcar interior and/or exterior coating inspections
  • Must be self‑motivated and able to work independently
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with programs such as Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Microsoft Office Suite

AMPP CIP Level 1 training will be made available to the successful candidate if not already certified.

A successful candidate may work remotely and not be offered to relocate.
