Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Studying building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
• Inspecting structures to identify obstructions and prevent weakening of structures during pipe installation.
• Locating and marking positions for pipes and passage holes in walls and floors.
• Cutting openings in walls and floors for pipes and fittings.
• Cutting and threading pipes.
• Bending pipes to required angles using pipe-bending machines or by hand.
• Assembling and installing valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of various materials.
• Joining pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks.
• Testing pipe systems for leaks using water or air and pressure gauges.
• Installing and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, water heaters, and dishwashers.
• Performing routine repairs and maintenance on plumbing systems.
• Welding fixtures to steel structural members.
• Performing other routine duties as assigned.

• Education and/or Experience: One to two-year certificate from college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English effectively.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and carry out instructions and solve problems.
• Computer Skills: Ability to navigate a smartphone or tablet for web applications.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license required for all plumbers.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, and occasionally sit, climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and 25 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

Exposure to wet and humid conditions, outdoor weather, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risks, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
