City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Plumbing Inspector for the Department of Building Inspection. This entry-level TPV role conducts inspections and enforces plumbing and mechanical codes at various sites. You will prepare reports, communicate findings, and coordinate with other inspectors.

Holders of CA plumbing credentials or a C-36 license with experience are encouraged to apply. The position is temporary provisional, with potential for progression through the civil service process.

Formación

• Completion of a CA-certified plumbing apprenticeship with journey-level experience.
• Alternative: CA C-36 plumbing contractor license with 8 years in the trade.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
• UPC Residential and Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification within 1 year.

Responsabilidades

• Inspect plumbing, mechanical, gas, low-pressure boiler and fire sprinkler work for code compliance.
• Explain applicable codes and regulations to professionals and the public.
• Coordinate inspections with other departments and staff; refer violations as needed.
• Prepare written reports; testifying in court when required.
• Drive to inspection sites, meetings, and related events.
• Issue abatement orders and participate in enforcement activities as needed.
