Job summary

City of Farmington Hills seeks a licensed Master Plumber Inspector to perform on-site inspections of plumbing systems, review plans, issue permits, and enforce state and local codes. The role involves working with contractors and building owners, maintaining records, and preparing a variety of technical reports.

Responsibilities include inspecting water heaters, sprinklers, and related systems, addressing violations, and advising applicants on code compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years experience as a licensed master plumber in Michigan.
• Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Valid Operator's License.
• Valid State of Michigan Registration as a Plumbing Inspector and Plan Reviewer.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints and plans, noting materials and methods, issuing permits and approving construction when requirements are complied with.
• Conduct on-site inspections of construction, evaluating materials/methods, testing connections and installations of pipes and fixtures.
• Issues violation notices when necessary.
• Assist applicants in filing for permits and provide information and technical advice to contractors and homeowners on codes.
• Maintain records of permits, inspections, complaints and investigations, and prepare reports and correspondences.
• Inspect water heaters and sprinklers for code compliance.
• Prepare summonses and testify in court regarding code violations and complaints.
• Perform office tasks, data entry, correspondence, scheduling inspections and other duties.
• Maintain project status in permit processing and tracking system.
• Enforce City ordinances for health, safety and welfare.
