Job summary

Chesterfield Township Building Department is seeking a Part-time Plumbing Inspector to perform inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing installations and ensure compliance with state codes, township ordinances, and approved plans. You will collaborate with contractors, property owners, developers, and township staff to promote safe, code-compliant plumbing throughout the Township.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Considerable experience in the plumbing trade, construction, inspection, or related field.
• Must meet State of Michigan requirements to perform inspections for a governmental subdivision.
• Must possess and maintain required registration, certification, or licensing by the State of Michigan.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to complete background checks or pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial projects within the Township.
• Identify code violations and communicate required corrections to contractors and property owners.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation in township systems.
• Review plumbing plans and permit information as assigned.
• Respond to questions from contractors, residents, and township staff regarding codes and inspection requirements.
