The City of Royal Oak is seeking a Plumbing Inspector to enforce the State Plumbing Code and inspect water service and drainage connections under Michigan regulations. The role requires mature judgment and tact, working under the Building Official.
The Plumbing Inspector may assist contractors with permits, inspect plumbing installations, investigate complaints, and prepare reports while maintaining records and coordinating with department staff.
A Plumbing Inspector is primarily responsible for the enforcement of the State Plumbing Code. In addition, the Plumbing Inspector may perform inspections related to Michigan Department of Health regulations pertaining to water service and drainage connections. Assignments are broad in scope and require the use of mature judgment and tact. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Building Official and/or Deputy Building Official.
Certification Premium: Employees who possess the required inspector certification(s) receive an additional $5.00 per hour certification premium for all regular hours worked.
