The Plumbing Estimator visits residential and light-commercial sites to evaluate prospective repair, retrofit, and installation projects, generate cost estimates, and secure more business for the company. You'll attentively inspect existing systems, assess layout requirements, determine general project needs, and work with vendors to secure competitive pricing. By analyzing blueprints, schematics, and job specifications, you'll prepare detailed material takeoffs that provide an accurate overview of the project's scope and costs, including material, labor, equipment, and permit expenses.
You'll prepare competitive bid packages, speak with the homeowners and business owners about why we're the right choice, and negotiate quotes when able. Your job doesn't end once we've booked the project. You'll stay in touch with customers throughout the process, answering their questions and keeping them informed on the progress. You'll also contact suppliers to verify lead times and secure competitive material quotes. Throughout the project, you'll coordinate with the installers, dispatchers, and project managers to ensure we complete successful projects that meet customers' expectations.
While not required, a state journeyman or master plumber license would be beneficial. A successful track record in sales, preferably selling directly to residential homeowners or commercial general contractors, is also highly desired! Experience with trade specific estimating software, like ServiceTitan, is also preferred.
