Job summary

The State of Florida is seeking a Plumber for Apalachee Correctional Institution within the Maintenance Department. This open competitive career service position involves installing and repairing plumbing and related systems to keep a major institution safe and functional.

The incumbent will read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, supervise inmates during plumbing tasks, and ensure compliance with department guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of experience in the plumbing trade OR four or more years of experience in the plumbing trade (training can substitute for experience).
• A valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems and related equipment in the institution.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for plumbing, LP gas supply, waste collection, and potable water systems.
• Reads blueprints, plans and organizes work, and supervises inmates in plumbing tasks.
