Job summary

State of Florida, Wakulla Correctional Institution, seeks a FDC - Plumber to perform plumbing maintenance in the Maintenance Unit. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, executing repairs, and coordinating supplies while ensuring safety and institutional procedures.

The role requires plumbing experience or related training, plus a valid driver’s license; incumbents will report to the Maintenance Superintendent and manage inmate-related tasks as part of the vocational program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience in the plumbing trade OR four or more years of experience in the plumbing trade (college or vocational training can substitute).
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Reading blueprints related to assigned tasks.
• Following approved methods, codes, tools, safety and security procedures.
• Performing repairs and preventive maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
• Completing assigned activities.
• Organizing and scheduling work and requisitioning supplies to ensure timely completion.
• Preparing reports of progress and performance for inmates for the classifications team.
• Maintaining custody and control of inmates as required.
