Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking a Plumber II in our Facility Management Division in Raleigh, NC. This position maintains and repairs plumbing systems and equipment in the downtown government complex, covering hot/cold water, drains and pumping equipment.

The job requires a high school diploma or GED with two years of piping experience, and may require licensure. Work involves physical labor, standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and may require entry into

Qualifications

• High school or GED diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement or construction of piping systems.
• May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

Responsibilities

• Install plumbing systems per plans and specifications
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning plumbing systems, fixtures and components
• Use the tools and test equipment commonly used in Plumbing
• Work knowledge of State and local plumbing codes
• Work with hot and cold-water systems, irrigation systems and drainage systems
• Stand for long periods and perform manual labor
• Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly
• May require working in confined spaces, manholes and at heights
• Familiarity with building, life and safety codes
