The Minnesota Department of Corrections is seeking a Plumber Chief for Oak Park Heights to lead maintenance of plumbing systems and ensure compliance with the Minnesota Plumbing Code. The role oversees staff, coordinates installations, and manages preventative maintenance for the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing lead work and direction to maintenance personnel so that the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code are met.
  • Perform skilled installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of existing and new plumbing systems.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance program and perform emergency repairs to prevent major failures.
  • Monitor and modify construction plans, blueprints, and plumbing specifications for the institution.
  • Assist in a variety of trade areas as required to maintain day‑to‑day operations of the institution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a Minnesota Master Plumber’s License and a valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License.
  • Leadership skills sufficient to provide lead‑work direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding, and reporting on work activities of other staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial plumbing experience.
  • Experience working with electronically controlled plumbing.
  • Experience working in a correctional facility.
Physical Requirements
  • Completion of pre‑placement physical components may be required, including tuberculosis screening, commercial driver’s license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance.
  • May be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis.
Additional Requirements
  • Criminal history check including completion of all sentencing or restitution requirements.
  • Background review for sexual harassment incidents, job performance, and discipline records.
  • Fingerprinting within the first 30 days of employment.
