Job summary

State of Minnesota, Department of Corrections, Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) - Oak Park Heights, seeks a Plumber to perform skilled installation, alterations and repair of plumbing and gas distribution per state code. Day shift, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

Under supervision, you may train laborers and maintenance staff; requires Minnesota Journey-level Plumber License and a valid Driver's License. Salary ranges from $71,326 to $82,810 annually, with hourly equivalents listed.

Qualifications

As Plumber, under general supervision and with guidance from the Plumber Chief, an employee in this class performs skilled new plumbing installation and extension, replacement, alteration, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, drains, fittings, hydrants, valves, plumbing, heating fixtures, traps, and gas supply distribution according to specifications in the State Plumbing code. An employee in this class may train and direct the work of laborers, other maintenance employees, and other helpers. Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. • Possession of a Minnesota Journey-level Plumber License.

• Possession of a valid Drivers License, which may be required for specific job assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Facility or plant maintenance experience as a Journey-level Plumber

• At least two years of experience performing preventive maintenance work.

• Experience in soldering, pro-press and techniques attaching old plumbing to modern plumbing.

• Experience in welding, soldering, and machining.

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance.
