Job summary

Colmac Coil is seeking a Controls Engineer to design PLC-based controls for heat transfer products, combining electrical schematic work with hands-on assembly support, testing and troubleshooting. Responsibilities vary by experience level and include leading design efforts as needed.

The position requires a BS in engineering or related 2-year degree with manufacturing experience, and offers benefits including health insurance, PTO, 401(k) with match, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Basic PLC programming knowledge and ladder logic.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control circuits.
• Familiarity with PID/temperature/pressure control is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, component lists, and PLC/HMI programs.
• Define operating sequences, I/O requirements, alarms, and interlocks; select/configure PLCs, VFDs, actuators, sensors.
• Support wiring and panel assembly; troubleshoot issues with production teams.
• Perform functional testing of I/O, sequences, HMIs, alarms, and interlocks before shipment.
• Maintain drawings, program backups, revision records, and docs; support field startup.
